In this section you can browse the collection of primary source documents maintained at this website. You will find source documents in full or part, but mostly without the footnotes. At this point there are no special selection criteria, other than all documents belonging to the Merovingian or Carolingian period. Most documents are charters concerning property transactions (i.e donation, property sale and exchange, testament etc.). You will not find (with a few exceptions) documents in this collection that are published in text-format online and free of charge elsewhere. For example, this collection is not a copy of the dMGH.
The source documents can also be found using the map interface of this website, look for the label full-text. Geographical locations, persons, names and institutions mentioned in the documents are being coded and related to the database. This is very much a work in progress.
